Meet Joey Bada$$, the 17 year old NY rapper who is churning up a buzzstorm bigger than his native Brooklyn with hype going crazy over this kid out there in blog land. Lauded for his old school styles with the focus firmly on flow, content and pure lyricism, Joey Bada$$ is refreshingly straight forward when it comes to hip hop. No gimmicks, no bullshit, this guy manages to make familiar boom bap sound fresh and exciting. Part of new group of US hip hop artists pushing a modern take on the memphis sound, Bada$$ and his Pro Era crew are tipped for big big things this year. Such a beautiful, emotional and uplifting track this. Rino Gaetano was an italian singer from the 70s. tragically he was killed in a car crash in 81 when he was just 30. Apparently the guy liked a toot and was under the influence when he crashed. The title means ‘But the sky is always bluer’ and the sax solo in the middle just gets me every time. Another one that brings back the memories – this was played after many late dinners by the italians i lived with/knew back in the day – so this one is going out to Silverstrini, tommy, pucco, dana and vince – bravo tutti!
