Who is he?
Straight up; Fake is a 24 year old producer who makes stripped down techno tracks bathed in luxuriant melodic glory. He’s remixed the likes of Tiefschwarz, DJ Remy and Shocking Pinks as well as releasing his own singles and an artist album on Border Community.
What does he want from me?
Probably nothing, but he might want you to check out aforementioned debut artist album ‘Drowning in a Sea of Love’, an accomplished effort which sees Fake moving away from the dance floor into more ambient territory and an ability to write complete works of music rather than just banging club tracks, although the album does include the single ‘The Sky Is Pink’, a huge hit thanks to a stunning remix by label boss James Holden. Obviously he’ll also want you to come down to his gig at Kapital where he’ll be performing live through “a laptop with some controllers and shit”
Sounds technical, I might just take him up on that. Any extras you can throw in to secure my attendance?
His label mate Petter is also on the bill for the night and all of it taking place at what has to be one of Scotland’s most unique venues, although Nathan is no stranger to strange places, ‘I once played in an Italian restaurant in Japan which was pretty bizarre. Also in a Church in Milan which wasn’t so strange but the act after me was a Chef!”
